Body found floating in Bridgeport river identified
Police have identified the man whose body was found stuffed in a barrel, floating in a river in Bridgeport.
According to police, the man found in the barrel was 34-year-old Charles Gerber. Police were able to identify him after family members described his very distinct tattoos.
Police say Gerber had an address in Florida, but grew up in Stratford.
Gerber's body was found Wednesday stuffed in a 55-gallon drum, floating in the Pequonnock River. His feet, arms and head were reportedly cut off.
Police say Gerber's family last saw him a few weeks ago. They're working off that timeline to determine when and what happened. Police add Gerber did have a criminal history.
