Coast Guard officials and West Haven police are hoping to learn Thursday whether the body found floating in the Long Island Sound is that of a missing Fairfield boater.

Raymond Callan, 57, was going to join his friends from the Fayerweather Yacht Club on Block Island Saturday, but never made it there. His boat was later found a few miles south of Charles Island near Milford. The Coast Guard called off the search for Callan Monday.

The state medical examiner's office is expected to release autopsy results sometime Thursday.
