Crews recover body from Housatonic River after report of drowning

Authorities pulled a man’s body out of the Housatonic River in Salisbury Wednesday after police received a report of a drowning Tuesday night.

Authorities pulled a man’s body out of the Housatonic River in Salisbury Wednesday after police received a report of a drowning Tuesday night.
Divers located the victim, who was identified by Connecticut State Police as Anderson Guante, of Brooklyn, New York. He was 40 years old.
Connecticut State Police, along with several rescue crews, were called to the Great Falls area around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a man who had slipped and fallen into the river.
Fire officials say the victim was with a group of people at the time.
Crews searched for the man until it got dark, then continued their search this morning.
Officials couldn't say if the victim hit his head or had a medical episode. They do believe he knew how to swim.
