A popular gin has been recalled for having "too much" alcohol.

Authorities in Canada launched the recall of Bombay Sapphire Gin after bottles were found to contain nearly double the advertised amount of alcohol.

According to authorities, bottles had 77 percent alcohol by volume rather than the typical 40 percent.

There were no reports of anyone becoming sick.

The bottles were only sold in Canada.
