Play ball! The Bridgeport Bluefish's season is officially underway and the team's new GM is hoping for a renaissance year.
General manager Jaimie Toole is making a big push this season to get Connecticut residents to the ballpark. Toole says he wants to engage fans on their terms. He says fans will be able to experience everything from pirates and princesses day to the bachelorette coming to the stadium.
The Ballpark at Harbor Yard seats 5,300, but less than half of those seats have been sold over the past four seasons. That number puts the team in last place for attendance around the league.
Toole hopes added attractions such as a beer garden, family picnic area and a new barbecue stand will be a big draw.
The team is also counting on a big crowd when it hosts the Atlantic League All-Star game and the Heroes for Heroes Legends game.
