A Bridgeport family says their aunt and uncle were found dead on New Year's Eve, but the cause is unknown.
Rafael Vasquez, 40, says his 56-year-old aunt Maria Diaz and 65-year-old uncle Luis Zamot were both found dead in their home on Calhoun Avenue - after he had already lost four family members in 2020.
The family is waiting for the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death. Vasquez says he wonders if they might have died of COVID-19, but knows it would be extremely unusual for two people to pass away simultaneously of natural causes.
State and local leaders are calling on the public to help Vasquez's family.
A GoFundMe campaign has launched to help with funeral costs.
