A group of community leaders rallied Tuesday to stress the importance of state police intervention.
Members of the group, "You Are Not Alone" or YANA, led a rally at the State Police Troop G in Bridgeport asking for troopers to help patrol the streets. YANA is made up of mothers who have lost children due to violence.
As News 12 Connecticut reported, a group meeting among community leaders took place Monday following a deadly weekend in Bridgeport.
"I can say that when my son got killed, it was a high homicide rate," says Theresa Grant, of Bridgeport. "I am witness to that when the State Police did come in, the crime rate did go down."
