Students in Bridgeport left summer behind as they headed back to school this morning. School administrators say the curriculum has been standardized throughout the district, according to grade level. They say the revised format will allow teachers to gauge students' performance regardless of where they go to school. Education officials also say they've shrunk the overall class size, cutting many classes in half. Bridgeport School Superintendent Paul Vallas says the restructuring was needed to meet state and federal standards. Vallas also says the changes will better prepare students for college.
