An elderly Bridgeport man is accused of fatally shooting a man who improperly installed his fence.
Police responded Tuesday to gunfire and reports of a man with a machete at 70-year-old Jesus Yanes?s Jackson Avenue home. Officers found Jose Vargas, 40, lying in the driveway with gunshot wounds and a laceration to his neck. Vargas was pronounced dead when medical assistance arrived.
Authorities say Yanes, who was covered in blood, was arrested without incident. A witness says Yanes became upset after Vargas mistakenly installed a fence upside down and demanded payment anyway. Yanes is being held on $2 million bond.
