Bridgeport Mayor John Fabrizi (D-Bridgeport) responded to allegations contained in an FBI report over his alleged use of cocaine. He told News 12 Connecticut , ?It?s a difficult emotional day, but in retrospect I kick myself in the butt. I should?ve said this a year and a half ago.? The mayor says he should have addressed rumors of alleged cocaine use when they first surfaced. The mayor was inadvertently named in an FBI report filed by prosecutors Thursday involving accused drug lord Juan Marrero. Marrero, who is facing drug conspiracy charges, reportedly told investigators democratic town committee member Shawn Fardy, who has been indicted for his role in a cocaine ring, had a videotape of Fabrizi using cocaine. However, U.S. Attorney Kevin O?Connor says the mayor is not a target of an investigation and says the information should not have come out in that manner. He says, ?We made a mistake here and I apologize to the mayor and anybody else named there.? He added the mayor has not been arrested or charged with any crime.
