Bridgeport officials are preparing the community for heavy winds, rain and flash flooding.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim received a briefing from the National Weather Service at the Emergency Operations Center Sunday.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal joined Ganim for the update, with national forecasters saying the weather system is bringing wind speeds of up to 70 miles an hour.
Local officials are asking residents to check storm drains for debris, and to prepare for heavy rains and flash flooding.
Ganim is also warning residents to keep pets safe and to stay away from flooded roads and viaducts.
