The Bridgeport community is coming together to help a woman from a rare skin condition.
Noemie Gomes, a nurse, is suffering from Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which causes severe burns to the skin.
She says it was triggered by a reaction to a common antibiotic she took called Bactrim.
A GoFundMe was set up to help Gomes, who has a son with autism, as she recovers at home.
"The pain was just awful. I was on morphine drips... all the narcotics you can possibly imagine. The pain was not controlled," Gomes says.
She says she used to be a champion fitness competitor but is now simply fighting to recover.
