Bridgeport Rescue Mission warehouse on Connecticut Avenue robbed
Officials from the Bridgeport Rescue Mission say their warehouse was broken into twice over the weekend, leaving them with thousands of dollars in damage and missing donations.
Mission officials say the front and back doors were both broken into with crowbars. The damage done to the door locks alone will amount to more than $1,500 in repairs.
Shelter manager Dorian Shafer says everything from coats and bedding to electronics were stolen. Executive Director Terry Wilcox says it's the first time the warehouse had ever been robbed.
The first break-in at the warehouse on Connecticut Avenue happened between Friday night and Saturday morning. The second happened sometime between Saturday night and early Monday morning.
The mission is asking for around $3,000 in donations to help them fix the door locks and purchase new surveillance equipment.
