Bridgeport residents spoke out against a plan to increase taxes on Thursday night.
About 100 people attended a meeting to discuss Mayor Bill Finch's (D-Bridgeport) proposal to hike property taxes.
His plan would force the average homeowner to pay an extra $424 a year.
Finch says most of that money will fund education.
He says the city has been cutting the budget for four years.
The City Council is set to vote on the proposal on May 8.
