Bridgeport residents frustrated by broken elevator
Residents at a Bridgeport housing complex are frustrated by a broken elevator, which they say has left some of them stranded on the upper floors.
Those living in building number five at the Green Homes on Washington Avenue told News 12 that the elevator has been broken since New Year's Eve.
Some residents, especially those with disabilities, say that they have been stranded in their apartments. They say they sometimes stay inside for days at a time.
Residents also say the broken elevator can pose a safety risk in the event of a fire or other emergency.
Local housing officials have not responded to News 12's request for a comment.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he will fight and work to restore the service. He says he has contacted federal housing officials and urged them to get the elevator fixed as quickly as possible.
