An Army reservist from Bridgeport battling a potentially deadly enemy is getting help from veterans.
Tiffany Mellers, 46, has spent most of her life serving her country in uniform - first in the U.S. Army, and now a reservist.
Tiffany Mellers' husband and two daughters were joined Saturday by fellow veterans who came to support the family at the American Legion 140 Post in Bridgeport.
Tiffany Mellers, who is battling uterine cancer, couldn't be present.
Her husband, Courtney, says that's when he realized how serious the situation is. The veterans say they're standing by Tiffany Mellers because that's what veterans do.
They say with the Army sergeant too sick to work and her husband without a job due to the pandemic, they will need help from the community to give the family the support they need.
