Some Bronx high school students are slated to share a building with elementary school students in September.
The Department of Education is moving Bronx International High School to the third floor of P.S. 146 in Morrisania for two years. Parents of students from both schools are unhappy about the move. The parents say safety is a main concern with younger and older students on the same campus.
The high school principal says P.S. 146 will add an extra security guard, separate entrances and more buses for quicker dismissals. In September, ninth-graders from the high school will use P.S. 146 for the first year. In the second year, the elementary school will make room for 10th-graders.
