Bronx homeowners near East 169th Street and Gerald Avenue want the NYPD to crack down on illegal parking by other cops.
Residents say it?s unfair that they get ticketed for blocking fire hydrants and parking on sidewalks, but officers from the 44th Precinct cruise past the law. News 12 The Bronx witnessed one car with official tags blocking a hydrant for several hours while another cop car was partially parked on a sidewalk, blocking a crosswalk.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) confirms officers are breaking the law, but the DOT says it has no authority to issue tickets. News 12 The Bronx is awaiting comment from the NYPD. A spokesperson for the mayor says illegal parking is unacceptable no matter who the offender is.
