Building crumbles, plans move forward in Norwalk development
The final building at the Reed Putnam development site in Norwalk came crumbling down Tuesday.
Development at the site near the intersection of I-95 and Route 7 on West Avenue has been talked about for years. Developers say plans for the site involved taking several properties through eminent domain. The final property was obtained this year.
The former Maritime Motors Chevrolet car dealership was the final building to be demolished on the site. However, the project is still in the last stages of approval by the city of Norwalk. Plans for the project include offices, retail space, a hotel and housing. Developers hope to start construction on the site next year.
