A group of Stamford business owners and residents recently filed a lawsuit against the city over flood damage.
The group claims the city could have taken steps to prevent some of the damage from an October 2007 rainstorm.
The owners of East Coast Auto Body, who are part of the suit, say it took them a long time to recover from the amount of water that flooded their garage. They say at one point, they had 6 feet of water in the building.
Lawyers for the group say the flooding was caused by the city's neglected drainage system, which was clogged with leaves and debris at the time.
Stamford officials had filed for federal aid to help cover the cost of the damage, but the city was denied.
