A wallet containing thousands of dollars found at Fairfield grocery store has found its way back to its owner.
Police say the wallet was found in the parking lot of the Whole Foods Market Sunday afternoon. The woman who found the wallet called her boyfriend, a Bridgeport police officer who was off duty at the time, to find out what she should do with it.
Fairfield police say they met the couple at the market and opened the wallet to discover that it contained $6,300.
News 12 is told that the woman who lost the wallet is from New Jersey, and was in the area to visit a sick friend at Bridgeport Hospital. Police say they were able to return it to her before she went home.
