The Center for Family Justice will be hosting its 26th annual Speaking of Women event on Sept. 6.
Organizers say speaker Chanel Miller, author of the book "Know My Name," will focus on the importance of teaching young people how to have safe and healthy relationships.
The executive director says the Bridgeport nonprofit helps hundreds of victims of sexual and domestic violence for free every year.
"Having seen, after the pandemic, a 32% spike in domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse, that's all the more reason we need, we need to have more support," said Deb Greenwood, with the center.
The event is Sept. 6 at The Waterview in Monroe. For more information, click here.
