? The city of Bridgeport is on its way to increasing revenue after holding its first public auction of vacant properties.
Close to 300 people showed up Saturday to bid on properties. The city has more than 300 vacant buildings, homes and parking lots. Bridgeport resident Marcia Wright was among the bidders hoping to buy a home and a piece of the American dream. Wright says she knows the home she purchased needs a lot of work, but says it?s in a neighborhood where she grew up and her mother still lives.
Officials plan to hold more auctions in the future.
