If kayaking floats your boat, then head out onto the waters of the Farmington River in Collinsville, Connecticut.
Jack Warner's parents started Collinsville Canoe & Kayak 31 years ago, offering lessons and rentals of paddle boards, solo kayaks, tandem kayaks and tandem canoes.
The 1.5-mile stretch from Collinsville Canoe offers tranquil and flat water for most beginners and even seasoned veterans.
Mark Fowler of Grace Farms Foundation says what’s unique about the Farmington River is that it’s very slow-flowing with nice and calm water that is easy to paddle on.
Fowler says the river is also a very scenic area.
Collinsville Canoe & Kayak also rents bicycles to enjoy the adjacent Farmington River Trail.
