A community award ceremony at the Bridgeport Police Department on Tuesday evening recognized the work of current and retired police officers, and community volunteers.

Police Chief Roderick Porter says the event was important because it highlighted the good work being done within the community.

“It is just important that we recognize our officers,” he said. “Bring the community together to let them know we are trying to do the best we can for them.”
