A Stamford-based community group repaired dozens of homes Saturday as part of its annual "fix-blitz," which renovates more than 80 homes across Connecticut.
AmeriCares completely made over the homes of several low-income or disabled residents Saturday. Many of the people who enter to win the home renovation are physically limited from repairing their own homes, or are unable to afford the changes.
More than 40 volunteers worked all day Saturday to replace windows and paint the inside and outside of homes, among other tasks. Like the labor, all of the supplies used to spruce up the homes are donated.
Volunteers estimate that, over the last 20 years, they have made more than $40 million worth of repairs.
