Community reps gather for FEMA funding session
(05/16/07) MONROE ? Emergency management officials from approximately 50 communities gathered in Monroe Wednesday to learn about nor?easter funding from FEMA.
The community representatives are seeking help from the federal government following the latest nor?easter, which took place in April. Some smaller communities, like Weston, could be looking for about $800,000 from the government. However, representatives from the larger city of Bridgeport say they?ll need $50 million to repair their community?s damage.
It is not known at this time how much money the government will dole out to each community. However, it may cover approximately 75 to 90 percent of damage costs for the areas in need.
Representatives from the communities now have 58 days to get the necessary paperwork in order.
