The Connecticut Department of Health has confirmed the first case of enterovirus in the state.
Enterovirus is a severe respiratory virus that has been affecting children across the country.
At least four hospitals in Connecticut have reported suspected cases of enterovirus. State health officials say the child was hospitalized, but is now doing well enough to be at home.
Enterovirus symptoms are similar to the common cold, but could worsen quickly, especially if the child has asthma.
Doctors warn parents to keep a close eye on children's symptoms and to get them to the emergency room if they experience trouble breathing.
