Peggy Higgins says she purchased a Toyota Hybrid because she was tired of feeling the pain at the pump. Now, Higgins says she fills up once every two weeks for around $21. Dealers at Toyota of Stamford say they?ve seen an increase in people seeking economical cars, leading to shortages. But, they say many are willing to wait. The economical cars get up to 50 miles per gallon.
AAA says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.95 in southwestern Connecticut, but the price is expected to rise as crude oil hit a record high of $75 per barrel this week.
