The Connecticut State Treasurer announced the excess amount in the Budget Reserve Fund will be contributed to the State Employees' Retirement Fund.
The decision was made following the release of the state's preliminary statement for Fiscal Year 2020 last week.
The $61.6 million amount will be used to pay down unfunded state employees' pensions.
