A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after police say he got into an altercation with an officer at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk.
According to authorities, the incident happened shortly before 8 a.m., when the suspect had a fight with a 15-year-old student and then turned his aggression toward a school resource officer, who rushed to break up the two teens.
Police say when they searched the 14-year-old freshman, they found a small knife in his pocket.
"The Board of Education has a school policy of weapons on school ground[s]," says Lt. Paul Resnick, of the Norwalk Police Department. "This was [a] violation of that policy, so he'll have to be held accountable to the board in that process."
The teen was charged with interfering with a police officer and reckless endangerment. Police say the freshman will miss school for at least 10 days.
