Cops on lookout after alleged abduction attempt
Stratford police are on the lookout for a man who may have tried to lure a Wooster Middle School student into his truck last week. They say that incident happened on Nichols Avenue near Greenfield Avenue, just blocks away from the school.
Capt. Christopher Marino of the Stratford Police Department said the student was approached by a pickup truck. He says the driver rolled down the window, spoke to the student and asked him if he wanted a ride home. The student refused and continued walking.
Police say the driver stopped the student again to ask him if he wanted a ride. After he refused again, the man drove away.
The school put a note with tips for parents on its Web site Friday and sent it home with students Monday.
Schools Superintendent Irene Cornish says the information was shared with parents on Friday through a telephone alert system.
