A Newtown couple whose child was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre were in Bridgeport Saturday for a special tribute to their son.
David and Francine Wheeler head to Dundon House at Captain's Cove Marina in Bridgeport every year as a pilgrimage to honor their son, Benjamin.
A dozen kids from Newtown listened carefully as museum curator Bruce Williams talked about the importance of lighthouses to the history of New England.
The Wheelers say Benjamin loved lighthouses and the family would often visit the Fayerweather Lighthouse, which dates back to 1823.
They founded Ben's Lighthouse in memory of their son. They say they continue to come back to promote Ben's legacy of "embracing peace and saluting great American lighthouses."
