A water main burst in Bridgeport Wednesday morning, affecting not only local residents, but also businesses and homes in Fairfield and Westport.
Aquarion Water Company officials say the main broke at around 4:30 a.m. at Fairfield Avenue and Main Street. Less than 500 people had discolored water throughout the area.
"If residents find they have discolored water, all they have to do is run their water for about five minutes," says Bruce Silverstone, of Aquarion Water Company.
Work crews are finishing installing a new pipe, so water is expected to begin flowing again in homes affected by the break later Wednesday.
