Stew Leonard Jr. said Sunday was a record-breaking day at Stew Leonard's.
"It'll be the biggest day in history. That's amazing. I've been here 32 years, it's just phenomenal. Every year it seems to get busier and busier," says Les Slater, of Stew Leonard's.
More than 50,000 customers were expected to visit the six locations to fill their shopping carts with steaks, shrimp, crab legs and more as they prepare for the holiday.
Employees planned ahead, stocking and restocking shelves, and customers prepared to brave the rush.
On Sunday alone, Stew Leonard's expected to sell three times as many cookies, three times as much coffee and two times as many bagels as an average day.
Seafood was also a crowd favorite.
Stew's is open on Christmas Eve from 6:30 am to 7 p.m., but is closed Christmas Day - the only day they close all yearround.
