CT liquor store hours extended in new law
Liquor stores now have the option of staying open an hour later as a result of a state law that went into effect Wednesday.
The 9 p.m. close time is now extended to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Stores are not mandated to remain open the extra hour.
Sunday sales will still stop at 5 p.m.
News 12 spoke with Liquor Center owner Jerry Goldstein, who says that extra hour won't do much to help increase sales.
He says he's seen changes like these in the past, first with business hours being extended to 9 p.m., then with liquor stores being allowed to do business on Sunday.
Goldstein says the revenue he made in those extra hours was minimal once you factor in the cost of staying open.
