President George Bush will be in southwestern Connecticut next week to raise money for the state Republican party, but many will not be there.
Bush addressed members of the United Nations in New York City on Tuesday, but his scheduled appearance next Monday in Greenwich is a surprise for some political experts. In light of the president?s public approval ratings in Connecticut, some politicians believe his appearance may pose a risk for all three Republican congressional candidates.
Congressman Chris Shays (R-CT), who attended an event with the president's mother last week, said he would be thrilled to have the president in his district despite the perceived impact. Shays' campaign says he will be with the president on Monday.
