Thousands of southwestern Connecticut United Illuminating customers were coping without air conditioning Saturday as a heat wave gripped the region.
Bridgeport resident Diana Serrano spent most of her day spraying down her bird and talking showers to keep herself cool. Other residents are spending time at pools and hoping for breeze.
The utility company is working to restore power to 8,000 residents who are in the dark due to Friday?s powerful thunderstorms.
