Unemployed women in Bridgeport were treated by a local nonprofit today to a day of beauty.

'Empowering through Beauty' was created by Tanisha Akinloye, a longtime hair stylist who always wanted to give back. Today's event allowed 20 women looking for work and going through tough times to have a day of pampering free of charge.

The event ended with a pep talk from a motivational speaker. Each woman was also given a goody bag full of products to help give them a fresh start.
