? A highly decorated Navy veteran and vocal activist for veterans? issues will preside as the grand marshal of Wilton?s Memorial Day Parade Monday.
Don Klotz, 80, joined the Navy in 1943 at the age of 17. The World War II vet led the parade 25 years ago and says he is happy to take up the post again. Besides participating in the parade, Klotz found a way to get local teens involved. The Trackside Teen Center builds floats for the parade. The teens say they?re more than happy to honor the nation?s military men and women. Klotz has also organized reunions for veterans for the past decade.
The Memorial Day parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Wilton Executive Campus. More than 35 floats and marching units will be in the parade.
