Democratic congressional candidate Diane Farrell defended her record on public safety during an appearance at the Westport Fire House Wednesday.
Farrell was joined by former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, who was on the 9/11 Commission. One of the commission's recommendations was creating interdepartmental communications to allow everyone seamless communication when responding to disaster. Westport is the only department in the region to have the technology, which allows police and fire personnel to communicate with each other. Farrell says it demonstrates her commitment to public safety.
Farrell also gained the endorsement from the New York Times Wednesday. She says it's a great honor, especially since the paper backed Congressman Chris Shays (R-CT) in 2004.
