DEP gives out rain barrels for water conservation
A rain barrel giveaway was hosted by Bronx officials in Wakefield Saturday.
The barrels can hold up to around 55 gallons of rain that will help preserve water usage and save money on water bills. They were provided by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
"It's important to use what we have and I really try not to waste water," says resident Brenda Bennet. "This will put to good use what is already there instead of what may be needed at another time."
The method of collecting rain water has been used around the world for thousands of years.
