Dept. of Transportation plans renovation of damaged bridge
For years, Bronx residents have witnessed the damage done to the Westchester Avenue Bridge overpass by large trucks and now the Department of Transportation has a solution.
The DOT has planned a rehabilitation design that will raise the Westchester Avenue roadway profile providing a minimum of 12 feet 6 inches of clearance on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Many Bronx residents agree with the department's plan and hope the new plan will reduce the number of incidents on the parkway.
Although residents are thrilled about the new design, they have also expressed their concerns about increased traffic in the area due to lane closures once construction starts later this year.
