DMV: 80,000 could get wrong car tax bill
News 12 Connecticut learned Wednesday that about 80,000 drivers could be getting the wrong car tax bill this summer. It's the latest in a growing list of problems at the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
New DMV Commissioner Michael Bzdyra said that those tens of thousands of people may get a car tax bill from the wrong town. He's urging people to closely check their bills.
The DMV's problematic computer system for registration led to three-hour waits on Saturday. The state has brought in Microsoft for the next two weeks to try and come up with solutions.
As for why so many are receiving the wrong tax bills, the DMV says those people moved and the change was never recorded, and some of the information was simply coded wrong in the new computer system.
Anyone getting a bill from the wrong place should call their local town or DMV office.
