The time of year has come for southwestern Connecticut residents to start thinking about getting a flu shot.Doctors are urging people with an existing health condition to make the vaccine a priority.

The time of year has come for southwestern Connecticut residents to start thinking about getting a flu shot.Doctors are urging people with an existing health condition to make the vaccine a priority. Dr. Steven Kunkes, of Fairfield-based Cardiac Specialists, recommends that people get a shot by the end of November, especially heart disease patients. He says the flu can damage the inside of arteries.Kunkes says patients who are vaccinated have a seven in 10 chance of beating the flu. Wilton-based Nursing and Home Care has flu shot clinics scheduled for early October.
