Driving expert urges caution in rain after I-95 crash
Less than a day after a gruesome crash on I-95 killed a truck driver and put traffic at a standstill, some are wondering if the wet weather was to blame.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but one road safety expert says rainy weather often plays a role in I-95 crashes.
?I can tell you it was treacherous driving. It was so foggy early in the morning,? says Gary Knepler, of Knepler Driving School. He says drivers need to drastically change how they drive in the rain, no matter how obvious that advice may seem.
Knepler advises drivers to lower their speed and to make sure the windshield wipers and lights are on. He also says it is very important to keep a safe following distance when driving on the highway. Knepler says to keep one car length between you and the car in front of you, for every 10 mph.
Drivers also must learn how to share the highway with truck drivers, Knepler says.
Police say the victim of the crash has not been identified. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy later this week.
