? Fairfield police are warning local businesses to watch out for phony cash after a man and woman passed $700 worth of counterfeit bills at a Post Road CVS.
Investigators say the duo, described as being in their 50s or 60s, used the bogus bills to purchase American Express gift cards and toilet paper at around 5 p.m. Wednesday. The store?s manager later noticed 14 $50 bills all had the same serial number.
Police say businesses should look for the watermark and raised seal on incoming money as they were missing from the counterfeit cash.
