An elderly woman died in a house fire that spread to a neighboring home in Bridgeport Wednesday.
The fire began in a two-story home on Putnam Street and spread to a three-story home next door. Fire crews located the woman?s body on the first floor of the home where the fire started.
Fire officials say both structures were severely damaged. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and an arson squad has been called in.
