Eversource spokesperson Mitch Gross spoke with News 12 and offered tips on what to do in case of a power outage, among other things.
In case of a power outage, customers should immediately call it in (800)-286-2000 or report it at eversource.com.
Regarding downed power lines, Gross says to never go near them and to call 911 immediately.
Safety generators should be put as far away from your house as possible, and away from vents and windows.
Generators create carbon monoxide; make sure they are installed by a licensed professional.
A blizzard warning is now in effect for New Haven County until 1 a.m. Friday.
A winter storm warning is in effect for Northern Fairfield, Northern Litchfield, Northern New Haven, Southern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield counties. A wind chill warning is also in effect for Northern Litchfield County. Coastal flood advisories are in effect for Southern Fairfield and Southern New Haven counties.
Northern parts of western Connecticut should expect to see between 4-8 inches of snow, while the southern parts could see between 6-10 inches. Conditions will be windy.
