The man accused of killing two jewelers in their Fairfield store two years ago was extradited Friday to Connecticut and formally charged with murder. DiMeo is already serving time toward a life sentence in New York for the murder of a Long Island jeweler. He could face the death penalty if convicted of killing Fairfield jewelers Tim and Kim Donnelly.

DiMeo is being held at the Fairfield Police Department over the weekend, and will face a Bridgeport court on Monday. The Bridgeport State?s Attorney?s office says it will make a decision about whether to seek the death penalty before a probable cause hearing is held.

On Thursday, the New York State Court of Appeals dismissed DiMeo?s request to stop his extradition to Connecticut. Police had waited two years to get DiMeo to Connecticut.
